When Apple held its event last week, much of the attention was given to the three new iPhones that were revealed. But even with this entire buzz, it was the new Apple Watch that stole the show. The Apple Watch Series 4 is the latest smartwatch from company. The watch comes with a larger display, rounded corners, a built-in EKG scanner.
The upgrade is simply a must-have for anyone who already has an older smartwatch or even those that have not yet been able to use this wearable technology. A big portion of Apple Watch fans still use the old Series 0 and 1. When Apple confirmed that it would release the Series 4, a much better option and a much bigger upgrade, people were obviously excited. The Apple Watch will begin shipping between October 12th and October 19th.
There are a number of reasons why the Apple smartwatch is gaining momentum compared to the new iPhones. For one, iPhones have been here for a while and they have become quite boring. It’s been 11 years since Apple first released the iPhone. Every year the company has tried to generate some excitement for the product with brand new features. Even though it has done a pretty good job at this, the level of excitement has died down a bit.
Besides, every new feature that’s added to the iPhone means you will have to pay way more for it. As such, the number of people looking forward to an upgrade has been dropping over the years. This fact has also been somewhat emphasized by the declining smartphone sales not just for Apple but for other companies too. 2018, in particular, wasn’t meant to really generate enough buzz. Apple reinvented the iPhone X with very few upgrades or changes.
The new devices are not cheap either despite the little upgrades. Apple appears to have figured out though that people will be ready to pay a higher price for an iPhone not because of brand new futuristic features but for better design and aesthetics. This could explain why the iPhone X didn’t take off as expected despite its top-notch new features.
However, the iPhone XS Max has to be the most exciting smartphone yet from the company because of its size. It’s also going to be the most expensive smartphone ever made. Consumers looking for a bargain would probably have to wait for the iPhone XR which will be going for $749. As it stands now, the new iPhone models are perhaps the less exciting devices launched by the smartphone giant in a while now.
In light of this, it’s no surprise that the upgrades implemented on the Apple Series 4 are grabbing all the attention. The smartwatch is a relatively new product with several new, desirable features, and has generated a lot of excitement for Apple’s die-hard customers.
