Disney has in the past few months been building a new Star Wars themed park at Disneyland and Disney World. The anticipation has been huge. Star Wars is perhaps one of the most popular film franchises with a cult following around the world. It’s clear that there are millions who have been holding their breath waiting eagerly for the park to come to life. Well, it seems their wait is about to be over. Disney has officially announced that the new Star Wars themed park will open at Disneyland in the summer of 2019 and late fall for Disney World. The park is called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

But Disney parks have incorporated Star Wars themes in the past. Whether it’s Star wars themed rides or other elements, you can find them on Disney World or Disneyland parks. However, the Galaxy’s Edge is not just a ride or a theme park. It’s one of the most ambitious projects attempted by the company. The park will target people who are thrilled by the fan fair of Star Wars and the hardcore fans too.

Galaxy’s Edge is meant to be an entirely immersive experience. Guests will get the real experience of stepping into the Star Wars universe itself. The days you had to contend only with a Star Wars ride are now over. The experience delivered by Galaxy’s Edge is more immersive. This is exactly what makes it a very exciting prospect. For instance, contrary to tradition, there won’t be the usual Disney employees in the cantinas and shops. Instead, when you step into the Star Wars Universe you will have to deal with smugglers that inhabit Batuu and other locals.

Guests who step into the park will find themselves at the center of the battle between the Resistance and the First Order. But there’s still more. The rides on the park are not just there for fun. They are designed to provide a more immersive adventure experience for any Star Wars fan or an average guy. The park’s flagship attraction will be the Millennium Falcon.

The idea of moving from traditional simple theme parks to more immersive experiences is not new. In fact, it’s something that has gained momentum over the last few years. Pandora: The World of Avatar and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter are some examples of top immersive parks that have already been built.

It seems Disney has really been trying to catch up and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge could help it with this. Also, this is not the only Star Wars related project Disney is undertaking. There’s also a plan to build a new Star Wars themed hotel at Disney World. This is a project that will literally allow guest to eat, drink, and even sleep Star Wars as they take part in the interactive adventure offered by the Galaxy’s Edge. The hotel will be a kind of Westworld but for Star Wars fans. It will be hard to pull it off but we know that Disney has what it takes to get it right. But at the moment, we will be looking forward to the Galaxy’s Edge.
