Most articles that are published about productive everyday habits only offer generic bits of advice like 'get more organized,' 'go beyond yourself,' or 'respect others.' Although we know these are important, most of these articles don't offer any examples or doable tricks on how to do these things. They also fail to provide basic, applicable tips that we can apply to our lives and make us feel better about our circumstances. Fortunately, that ends here.

Below are the seven tips and tricks you can use for a more fulfilled and productive life:

Limit Technological Distractions

In this modern day and age, we’re constantly stimulated with electronic communication. Mobile email capability, the virtual world of social media, and text messaging can become time drains especially if handled inappropriately. The trick is this: limit the time you check every single social media account you have. This includes your e-mails. We recommend only doing this 2 to 3 times a day in order to successfully limit distractions.

Make Lists

It’s easy to be overwhelmed with all the requirements that your dream project demands. Create a list of your "action items" daily. The actions items are the tasks that you need to accomplish for the day. This keeps successful people motivated, honest, and constantly progressing. It’s perfectly OK to start small. Gradually build your list as you go on. We recommend you make your list in the morning while you sip that first cup of coffee for the day.

Have Set Routines

Making life's more mundane aspects a routine will free up time and valuable brain power. Successful people's days are regimented. They wake up at the same exact time each day and have simple morning routines. If possible, lay out the clothes you plan to wear the next day before you go to bed. This may sound a bit boring but you waste so much time every day wondering what you'll wear or eat for breakfast.

Take 30-Minute Naps Each Day

Sleeping on the job can be hard as you still have to convince your supervisor. However, researchers from the University of Michigan revealed that taking daytime naps can counteract impulsive behavior. It can also boost your tolerance for frustration. Their findings also suggest workplace dozers are more productive.

Complain

Complain, but you have to do this in the right way: presenting your frustrations or beef with improvement in mind. According to the co-author of an Applied Psychology Journal study, framing things in solutions will lessen your focus on who is at fault or on the problem itself. It can also evoke pleasant emotions rather than negative ones which cause mental fatigue.

Hit the Elliptical

Exercising won't just improve your health but it can also boost your productivity. We are not suggesting you kill yourself in a session of CrossFit. You can simply jog or run for a few minutes and that will be enough. A daily 20-30-minutes run can help you complete the day's problem-solving tasks quickly and more efficiently.

Get Enough Sleep

Getting too many hours of sleep is as bad as having less. Over-sleepers and under-sleepers are more likely to take more sick days according to the researchers of Occupational Health Institute of Finland. Stay in the sleep "sweet spot," which is 7.7 hrs a day.
