With so many beautiful and interesting places to visit on a vacation, it’s almost too hard to choose one. While some destinations are very well-known and open to tourists, these options below are the opposite: they’re illegal to visit! While you may not be tempted to visit these places in the near future, it's still interesting to know why they are off-limits.

Bohemian Grove

Bohemian Grove is found in Monte Rio, California. You may be asking why a grove is off limits. It's because a lot of the world's richest, famous and powerful people descend on Bohemian Grove just to have uninhibited, wild, and drunk parties. If you try to sneak in without an invitation, you will end up having a “party” with a cellmate.

Lascaux Caves

Lascaux Caves are found in France. They feature one of the earliest drawings of ancient humans that are still present today. Lascaux Caves used to be open for public viewing, but the caves were sealed back in 1963 in an attempt to save them and the drawings from destruction.

Surtsey

Surtsey is one of the islands in Iceland. What's unique about this place is that it's a volcanic island with violent origins. In fact, the island popped into place after a gigantic volcanic eruption back in the 1960's. At the moment, the place is off limits to the general public as scientists are studying how a new island transforms to become a new habitat.

Svalbard Global Seed Vault

They say that the real future of humanity lies in seeds. No wonder why someone actually created a massive seed vault located in Norway. As the name suggests, the place is a series of vaults that are mainly used to store seeds. If you are not a researcher or a "plant nut," then you can safely cross out this destination on your bucket list.

North Sentinel Island

 This place in the Andaman Islands is just a pure beauty that seems to be pulled out from the Jurassic era. While it's very tempting to sneak into the place, don't expect to be escorted to a cell if you get caught. In fact, there's no police here. What you need to worry about are the locals who will greet you with a ton of flying arrows. You know what they say, there's nothing else that can say "leave me alone" than flying arrows towards you.

Area 51

Area 51 is a special place in Nevada, USA. In fact, it's so special that everyone knows that you shouldn't be visiting there. If you do try your luck against the law, you could be picked up by a group of aliens. Or, you could be picked up by something even worse - the CIA or the FBI.

This little chapel found in Axum, Ethiopia has a major claim. It's said that the chapel houses the Ark of the Covenant, the one that is featured in the Bible. Unless you are the Ark's guardian, you can't enter.
