The iPhone season is now here. Apple may release three new devices this month and the rumor mill has been busy trying to figure out what the company has in store for us. We have seen a lot of leaked photos of the real things as well as speculative names of what these devices will be called. But there are some rumors that have been less wild than others.
We have compiled some of the top rumors out there to try to see what Apple is up to.
First, one thing that has been thrown into the pan is a possible upgrade of the iPhone X. Apple is said to be angling for an “S” update. This will be the first such update since the iPhone 6s back in 2015. We are confident that this will actually happen. However, don’t expect too much. It will merely be a simple enhancement as opposed to a complete redesign. We may get a faster processor, a bigger RAM, and even some camera improvement but that’s it.
We have also heard that Apple is working to launch a bigger screen for the iPhone XS update. A 6.5-inch screen has actually been proposed. This will be more like an iPhone XS Plus. Some sources are saying it could be named iPhone XS Max to symbolize the bigger screen. If Apple follows the trend like it has so far, the iPhone XS Max will have almost all the same features as the iPhone XS with the exception of a bigger screen.
Apple is also rumored to be toying with the idea of launching an iPhone with an LCD display. This will probably be a cheaper version. The screen could measure about 6.1 inches. This device is unnamed and there haven’t been many sources online trying to guess the name. So we will go out on a limb here and call it the iPhone 9. However, we could be wrong. The design for the LCD phone is expected to be more or less like the iPhone X too. However, the LCD screen will bring it to market at a cheaper price point.
We have also seen online sources publish rumors about potential new colors for the new iPhones. The long-rumored color change has been the golden version of the iPhone X. We are very confident that this will actually happen. The cheaper LCD model could also come in a number of color options. We are talking about white, blue red, orange, and even gray. There are also reports that Apple could get rid of the 3D touch which was introduced with the iPhone 6s. At the time it was billed as an innovative feature designed to add new depth on how people use smartphones but it never really took off so Apple may remove it from the new models this year.
Finally, we have also heard talks that Apple Pencil could come to the iPhone. This has been a long-awaited feature. If it indeed comes, it may start off with the iPhone XS Max before upgrading to other devices in the future. But these are all just rumors and we still have to wait a few days for the real deal.
