Sony has just announced that it will launch a brand new gaming console. Sony also reminded the world that the PlayStation was the first home console in video game history to ship out over 100 million units all over the world.
The company believes that there’s some nostalgic value in re-launching the original PlayStation. Gamers who were there from the beginning can rediscover the games they loved and the experience they enjoyed playing them. As for new gamers who haven’t had the chance to savor the ground-breaking magic of the PS1, well, this is your once in a lifetime opportunity. Sony has confirmed that the new classic mini PlayStation will be at least 45% smaller than the real PlayStation. It will also come with two smaller controllers that will all mimic the first controllers on the original PlayStation. Users will also get an HDMI and USB cable.
The console will be available for pre-order in limited markets. Sony said that it intends to share more details about the new classic console in the months ahead before it finally starts selling in December. The company added that all the games on offer will be playable in their original format. This way, Sony is trying to take you down the memory lane and bring back those emotions of playing the very first PlayStation.
