There are many airports in the world. Some are busy, some are massive, and some are just beautiful. They may not be the big traditional airports that everyone is used to but they sure are amazing sites to see. We conducted a small poll to establish the best airport landing strips and the list is in. As you approach the runway, there is nothing more fulfilling as looking down an airplane’s window only to be met by exotic islands or rugged mountains covered with impeccable greenery. For some of us, we are dazzled by the city skyline as we approach the runway. The options are really endless.

1. Nice Cote d’Azur, France

The Nice Cote d’Azur in France is designed well into the water from the coastline. The spectacular runway compliments the city’s skyline on the background as well as amazing hills on the far end. You will love it!

2. Donegal Airport in Ireland

The Donegal Airport in Ireland is located along the coastline and views of the beach and blue water are clearly visible as you approach the runway. However, what makes this a special moment is how the surrounding well kept green terrain compliments the beach and the blue water. Seeing it from above is such an amazing spectacle.

3. Juancho E Yrausquin Airport in Saba, Dutch Caribbean

The airport landing on the Dutch Caribbean island of Saba is one of the most spectacular views you’ll ever get from a plane’s window. It features an imposing mountain as it rises majestically above blue sea water. The mountain fog at the top adds to a very amazing site. You will never get an experience like this going down towards any other runway in the world.

The Gibraltar Airport in the UK overseas is also built way into the sea but it’s still very beautiful. The city stands tall next to the runway and you can see tourists with yachts having a great time as you ascend towards the airport.

The Queenstown Airport in New Zealand is located in the middle of a hilly terrain with clear water rivers running along. It is a quite little runway with a beautiful aura of nature. It’s something you’d love to see from above.

The London City Airport is creatively positioned in the middle of clear blue water. However, what really makes the airport special is the picturesque city and its high rise buildings standing either side of the runway. It’s spectacular to watch while inbound!

7. St Maarten Airport on the Caribbean

The St Maarten Airport on the Caribbean is located right on the beach and as you approach the runway, you get to cover miles of clear sea water and amazing white sandy beaches. There are also a few islands that protrude above the water to give you the perfect site.

8. Barra Airport, Scotland

The Barra Airport, Scotland is right next to the water and it’s not really the site alone that make this landing special, it’s also the thrill of landing there. The blue water is complimented by small hills on the background and a cloudy fog. It is a great picturesque site to see.
