The first season of the HBO’s TV series Westworld was a major success. The show has gained a massive following ever since. As we gear up for the second season, a few ravenous fans have been trying to figure out the plot twists that we should be looking forward to. There’s always a very thin line between “fan theory” and “spoilers” though. While it’s okay for fans to develop their own theories of what they think will happen in the new season, sometimes these theories are often right. When they are, they become spoilers, and nobody loves spoilers.

The creators of Westworld are trying to remedy this issue with a new radical solution. Co-creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy say that they are considering uploading a video that will basically lay down the full scope of Westworld’s second season. The video will include all the twists and turns that will happen in the show. The co-creators feel that the move will allow ravenous fans who are eager to peak into the series to get the real plot twists way ahead of the premiere. The fans will then help protect other fans online from spoilers by differentiating based on what they have watched fan theory from real spoilers.

Nolan says that the co-creators have already consulted cast members about the issue and there was immediate support. The concept here is actually very simple. If you are a fan of Westworld and you really can’t wait for the second season, the show creators will release a video of all the plot twists you need well in advance. Nolan and Joy think that if this video is uploaded online, it would limit the spread of too many spoilers and fan theories that have often been captured even by the mainstream media. This according to Nolan will prevent the spoiling of the show’s storyline, something that actually happened with the first season.

But there’s one problem with all this. The idea only works if the creators of the show have enough trust on the series fans. In other words, the show creators will need assurance that the fans who get a sneak peak of the entire plot will not share it with other fans who don’t mind waiting until the full premiere. Is this a risk that the show creators will be willing to take?

Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have already expressed their willingness to do this. But we all know that spoilers can have a massive negative effect on popular shows such as Westworld. Such an idea has not been tried before and essentially it would be an experiment. It’s very hard to believe that Westworld creators would put such a popular show in jeopardy for the sake of a social experiment. Nonetheless, the second season of the show will premiere on Sunday, April 22. The show’s trailer is also out. Fans who have not already been exposed to the numerous fan theories online are definitely looking forward to second season’s plot twists.
